Medical Director II

Job Summary

The Medical Director is the scientific services client lead for assigned promotional accounts. As such, the Medical Director is responsible for the medical review of promotional material, input on promotional strategy, subject matter expertise, and development of appropriate materials, which may include slide decks, flashcards/brochures, video scripts, and other relevant content. The Medical Director is expected to demonstrate therapeutic and landscape expertise for the relevant therapeutic area, serving as a subject matter expert for internal teams and externally to clients. The Medical Director will, with the support of the other members of the team, including the Account Director(s), assist with the development and implementation of clients’ strategic initiatives, new products and technologies and day-to-day activities to support the success of Woven Health Collective business. The Medical Director position is a client-facing role. The Medical Director will actively participate as a member of the scientific team and will consult regularly with senior scientific staff. The Medical Director may have direct reports. The Medical Director is expected to have extensive knowledge of promotional medical communications and pharmaceutical processes.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

  • Content Development
    • Develop and/or review medical communications projects as appropriate to assigned client(s), including
      • Slide decks, advisory board materials, slide presentations, and other promotional materials, across multiple clients/ therapeutic areas
      • Visual aids and other sales materials
      • Any other materials relevant to promotional materials
    • Provide onsite support at key client meetings, congresses, or other events
    • Ensure all deliverables are scientifically rigorous, aligned with client strategy, and compliant with ethical and regulatory standards
  • Strategic Insight
    • Serve as the scientific lead for assigned accounts
    • Understand the competitive landscape, key health care providers and their roles as stakeholders
    • Assist in the development of overall strategic direction and planning for assigned accounts
  • Internal/External Engagement
    • Coordinate with senior scientific staff
    • Attend internal and external meetings, and update content as appropriate
    • Interact with and provide scientific support to clients, as directed
  • Employee Oversight
    • Direct projects/content development for junior scientific staff
    • Potential to manage direct reports
  • Business Development
    • Support new business efforts, as directed
  • Operations
    • Travel required
    • Home-based (remote) or NYC Office (candidate's choice) location

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
  • Ability to understand complex scientific and medical literature
  • Ability to assist in the development of overall strategy for clients
  • Direct client and HCP interaction experience
  • Ability to develop clear, concise, and consistent content
  • Ability to relate to a wide variety of audiences and be able to simplify abstract ideas for others
  • Experience developing medical communications materials
  • Works effectively within a team, including both internal and external partners
  • Possess ability to work directly with clients, leading discussions, and identifying solutions to their business needs
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Master of Science, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years medical writing experience, preferably in a health care marketing or communications agency internship, preceptorship or equivalent
